The Westcoast Group of companies has purchased wide-format print distributor Colourgen. The acquisition continues Westcoast’s investment into the ‘value-added’ distribution sector.
Colourgen will continue to operate as an autonomous business, offering the same portfolio of products and services. ArtSystems, an existing member of the Westcoast Group, will assist in the integration helping to broaden the portfolio of products and revenues available through the Maidenhead-based company’s channels.
Colourgen is the UK distributor for Mutoh, as well as for the Dimense structured wallcovering printer. It also suppliers Epson’s aqueous large format printers and consumables, the Kala range of laminators and finishing products and software from EFI, Caldera and ProofMaster.
‘Looking ahead, we believe this acquisition will produce a more attractive proposition to existing and potential suppliers,’ said ArtSystems managing director Steve Hawker. ‘Above all, Colourgen’s customers will benefit. Whilst the company is retaining its key specialist attributes, the backing and reach of the Westcoast Group will ensure that their offering reaches a much wider audience.’
Jeff Biggs, who founded Colourgen in 1987, will retire from the business. Managing director Mark Lambert will continue in a management role alongside members of the Westcoast management team. ‘It is our belief that Colourgen and its customers will grow and prosper under this new structure, and that we will achieve even greater results moving forward.’ Mr Lambert commented.
