Diamond Digital has installed an Ashgate KF640 bookletmaker and trimmer with a squarefold in-line unit.
The KF640 can produce a maximum booklet size of 320 x 320mm as well as more common sizes like A4 landscape. It is also able to handle a maximum sheet size of 640 x 320mm.
‘It is a growing market but we were missing out because we could not find an affordable bookletmaker to finish this type of format,’ said Gary Norris, who founded the Woolwich-based company almost four years ago. ‘We either had to stitch them by hand, which is laborious and time consuming, or outsource them, which made us uncompetitive.
‘When we heard from Ricoh that Ashgate were introducing the KF640 bookletmaker, manufactured by KAS Paper Systems, we were very interested. I knew of Ashgate because I had used their equipment before. I saw it being demonstrated and took with us A4 landscape and A6 booklets as a trial. Both were finished perfectly.’
Diamond Digital, which has three Ricoh presses, including a digital direct-to-garment printer, also bought the squarefold in-line unit which sits between the bookletmaker and the trimmer.
