Finishing equipment manufacturer MBO is showing a range of new products, including equipment suitable for use with web-fed digital presses at an open house in Oppenweiler, Germany on 5 and 6 September 2019.
Aiming to distance itself from the anticipated rush of drupa 2020 announcements, MBO is introducing a number of folders, a stack robot, an entry-level rotary die-cutter and a web finishing line suitable for use with high speed digital inkjet presses. The latter comprises the new UW23 unwinder, which will be shown in a nine-unit 250m/min line that also includes the PFS plough fold station, new DPS60 dynamic perforation station, SVS525C sheeter plus the DFT560 and DFW560 modules for special applications such as gatefolds or glue folds.
These will be complemented by the CoBo-Stack, a ‘collaborative’ robot that handles stacking of folded signatures without the need for protective fences or light barriers, taking stack from the table and placing them on pallets. The CoBo-Stack will also be shown working in conjunction with a choice of combi folders.
Other folder developments include a curved table for the K80 model, which rotates folded sheets arriving from the cross-fold area through 90 degrees, simplifying the switch from 16- to 32-page production. The T800.1 folder gains a sheet return device that reduces the paper path by 80%, while the new T50 is a B2 buckle folder able to run at up to 205m/min. MBO will also demonstrate networked automation for the folders, based on the existing MBO Datamanager 4.0 software, which uses JDF or API-based data to optimise folder set-up.
A new entry level rotary die-cutter, the Bograma BSR 550 Basic, is offered as an ‘attractively priced’ offline solution aimed at small and medium runs. It can die die-cut, kiss-cut, score, perforate and emboss a wide range of digitally or offset printed products.
