Kriessern-based UV flatbed printer manufacturer swissQprint is ending its distribution arrangement with Spandex by mutual agreement and is establishing a directly owned UK subsidiary to support expansion into packaging and other specialist and industrial print applications.
The exclusive distribution and support deal with Spandex began in 2011. ‘Being the exclusive distributor of such an innovative product range has really helped Spandex expand into new markets but all good things must come to an end and we wish swissQprint continued success in the UK,’ said Leon Watson, general manager of Spandex UK. Maurus Zeller, product manager at swissQprint, expressed his appreciation for the long-standing cooperation with Spandex and announced, ‘We intend to focus activities in the UK and to further expand our services.’
The new UK subsidiary is being led by Erskine Stewart, who has 15 years experience in the wide-format signage and packaging market. It will be located in Bracknell, Berkshire and will provide sales, servicing and application support, and distribute consumables, spares and ink. A new demonstration centre will also open. A transition period from Spandex to swissQprint UK will begin in October to maintain service.
