Xerox has unveiled two new enhancements for the iGen 5 which the company says makes it ‘the most versatile digital colour production, cut-sheet press’ on the market.
These enhancements, both available as optional extras, are a fluorescent yellow dry ink and the iGen 5 XLS, an extra-long sheet version of the press.
Tracey Koziol, senior vice president of global offerings at Xerox, said the new offerings are ‘Designed to increase the versatility, productivity and scalability of our clients’ existing investment in the Xerox iGen 5. Coupled together, they make the iGen 5 the most versatile digital colour production, cut-sheet press available on the market today.’
The XLS can handle sheet sizes of up to 35 inches, prints at rated speed and has production feeding and stacking. Xerox believes that the extra-long capabilities will allow produtivity to be increased by up to 25%.
Printers also now have the option to utilise the iGen 5’s fifth print station to run fluorescent yellow dry ink in addition to orange, green and blue gamut extension colours, as well as white and clear.
‘The way colours are printed continues to evolve as toner technology becomes increasingly more sophisticated,’ Ms Koziol added. ‘As a pioneer in toner and colour technology, Xerox has spearheaded developing new capabilities that allow printers to push past the boundaries of commodity print, without sacrificing productivity or quality.’
Expanding the press’ colour capabilities allows PSPs to offer a wider selection of spot and flood effects, photo and colour enhancements and watermarks. The new ink has been formulated to glow under UV light and be an option for jobs such as health and safety signs, other signage, book covers, folding cartons and direct mailers.
Both options will be available from 3 October in the Americas and in the fourth-quarter of 2019 for the other regions served by Xerox.
