Fedrigoni Group has revealed more information about Arena, its range of white and ivory uncoated papers and paperboards, first announced in September.
Available in weights from 70 to 580gsm, the range has been designed for both printing and packaging and includes a selection optimised for HP Indigo presses. The papers also come in three different finishes (Smooth, Rough and Bulk), and four shades (Ivory, Natural, White and Extra White).
‘This is like a Swiss army knife for white paper,’ said Chiara Medioli, Fedrigoni’s group marketing director. ‘Because it makes life easier for our clients. An arena is a place where you can play football, but also hold rock concerts or opera shows. It is democratic, whatever the message it is always adequate. If you have ever had the impression that Fedrigoni paperboards were more suitable for covers, end sheets, special sections, coloured sheets, think again.’
Sustainability was a key consideration during the design stage and the homogeneity of the Arena range means that less waste is produced during the manufacturing process, as well as less water being used. Arena Natural is also OBA-free, which means it does not use any optical brighteners.
Fedrigoni acknowledges that the macro-porous surface of the paper requires the use of full oxidation drying inks, and also claims that the dot gain and the print contrast are ‘the highest that can be obtained from uncoated supports.’ The range is produced at three different Italian paper mills, all owned and operated by Fedrigoni.
