Norwich and Beccles-based Anglia Print has been awarded the ‘Sustainable Organisation 2019’ top prize in the annual Sustainability Impact Awards run by the Institute of Environmental Management and Assessment (IEMA).
The IEMA awards are not print-specific but are open to all sectors and organisation sizes; the Institute is international with over 15,000 members. The judges said of Anglia Print, ‘This company demonstrated a clear organisational focus on sustainability that was at the core of its business strategy. It recognises the challenge of continuing to achieve year-on-year improvements. It has continued to innovate, including through an industry-first use of printed paper rather than plastic tape in packaging and engaging on sustainability issues at both regional and sectoral levels.’
Director John Popely told Digital Printer, ‘We have Presstek waterless litho and two Konica Minolta digital presses, all of which are powered by 100% renewable energy. No chemistry used in production is harmful to the environment and we have had zero waste to landfill since 2005.
‘We won the Queen’s Award for sustainability in 2016 and Greenpeace UK say that we one of the greenest printing companies in the UK,’ he added.
The company is also accredited with EMAS, ISO14001, FSC through the Soil Association and is a Climate Positive printing company.
