Eight Days a Week Print Solutions has made its first move into inkjet technology, installing a Xerox Baltoro.
A direct replacement for an outgoing iGen 4 Diamond Edition, the Baltoro will give the Nottingham-based business more capacity and firepower to support the organic growth plans in place.
With a current turnover of £5million and a staff of 18 the company is looking to expand their client portfolio, profile and offering from their existing 11,500sqft premises.
In September the company appointed a new managing director, Lance Hill, to take over the day-to-day running of the business from owner, and now chairman, David Beardsley.
‘When I joined last year David had a deal on the table for a Trivor but there were a few question marks whether this was the right kit for the business, not from a capability viewpoint, but more the leap in capacity it would bring,’ said Mr Hill. ‘Our market is short to medium run direct mail and digital print with the occasional larger job once a month, the Trivor is a hungry machine and we do not have the volume of work to keep one of those busy.
‘I also had concerns about the additional infrastructure needed to accommodate a roll-fed machine as we are all cut sheet. Fortunately, the timing was great for the launch of the Baltoro and after attending the launch event in October we moved quickly to discuss a deal as it was obvious that this was the right machine for us.
‘Inkjet technology has moved on and looking at the profile of our work we will get greater utilisation from the Baltoro as we can bring in-house some of the work we have outsourced for a number of years. On this basis it was a no-brainer plus the support and installation has been excellent from Xerox which supports the decision.’
‘Eight Days a Week are a progressive and innovative business requiring an agile, productive and cost-effective platform to deliver hyper personalised communications to a diverse range of clients,’ said Nick Bridge, general manager, production systems at Xerox UK. ‘Working closely with Eight Days a Week we were able to identify the Xerox Baltoro HF Press to meet the demands of both current work profile and provide a platform to support growth into the future.’
