With demand for PPE expected to grow, CMYUK Textiles has announced that it can provide up to 300,000 protective gowns and 1.5m face masks per week.
With the UK entering a period of enforced social distancing the textile specialist expects personal protective items to become commonplace, if not mandatory, in some areas of public life.
CMYUK’s protective healthcare gowns are produced in conjunction with Pongs, its long-standing, German textiles partner. The gowns are made from 100% soft cotton have an outer PU coating that creates a non-permeable liquid barrier, which is anti-viral, sterilisation-safe and reusable. Gowns can withstand approximately 100 industrial washes, are white and come in one-size-fits all.
The reusable, community grade mouth/nose masks are made from dual layer pure cotton offering ‘greater hygienic comfort.’ Available in two different styles with back-of-head ties or behind-the-ears elastic fastenings, they can withstand 100 industrial washes at near boiling temperatures.
CMYUK says that the masks are suitable for all types of business as well as employees, customers, the public at large and are available in children’s sizes. In the case of supermarkets, retailers or brands, these mouth/nose masks can be custom printed with company logos to match corporate style.
‘We are pleased to have established extremely large, consistent volumes of protective healthcare gowns and community grade face masks,’ said group director Robin East. ‘We are set to see an explosion in demand for healthcare protection and community facemasks for the general public. Extended personal protection is becoming a feature of our lives until a vaccine is developed.’
