German trade printer Onlineprinters has revealed that it was the beta test site for HP’s new high volume liquid toner press, the Indigo 100K that was announced in March, and has subsequently purchased the press.
The machine was installed for beta testing at the company’s Neustadt an Der Aisch site in northern Bavaria in August 2018, with ongoing support from HP engineers. ‘This technology partnership has given us the opportunity to thoroughly test the machine. We were inspired by its high speed, consistent quality of print, excellent usability and ease of maintenance,’ said Jürgen Winkler, director of operations at Onlineprinters.
Onlineprinters says it has been expanding its digital printing capability in response to changing customer requirements and falling run lengths over recent years; it estimates that by 2021 around half its order will be digitally printed. Target audiences for the Indigo’s output include graphic designers and creative agencies with a ‘keen eye for quality’.
‘Making no compromises on quality has always been our credo. To achieve this, we have relied on technology leader HP and its HP Indigo family as well as homogeneous machinery from the very beginning, also in offset printing,’ Mr Winkler continued. In addition to holding the Fogra PSO certification for offset printing and its in-house post-press department, the digital printing section of Onlineprinters is certified to PSD (Process Standard Digital Printing).
