Dutch printer Wihabo has installed the world’s first operational HP Indigo 100K. The family business, founded in 1986, prints high volume unique and personalised prints for local and international clients.

The Indigo 100K was announced in March, and it was confirmed last month that German trade printer Onlineprinters was the beta test site for the high volume liquid toner press.

Wihabo’s model will replace its existing HP Indigo 10000 and focus on mass production printing. The rest of the company’s HP Indigo fleet, one HP Indigo 12000 and two HP Indigo 7900s, will focus mainly on speciality work, such as printing with white and fluorescent pink ElectroInks.

The investment was part of the Geffen-based firm’s strategy ‘to stay ahead, maintain leadership and become the most complete digital print supplier possible.’

‘We are very pleased with the energy and resource savings we will achieve with the HP Indigo 100K,’ said Wihabo’s CTO Joris Bosch. ‘The speed and quality in EPM mode on the press will allow us to migrate an even larger part of our offset volume to digital. Together with HP PrintOS, we will be able to use real-time data to improve our workflow and efficiency, adapting more quickly to our customer needs.’
