HiVis.co.uk, a 50-person company based in St Helens, Merseyside, says that social distancing has been good for business with demand for signage and personalised PPE soaring during the lockdown period.

In a normal year the company, which uses a Roland RF-640 to produce fast-drying signage, versatile vinyl and scratch-resistant floor graphics, produces a million printed items, turning over £4 million. Ordinarily it would expect to take around £800,000 for signage, but lockdown has already generated sales in that area of over £2 million.

The company says it has been inundated with demand from loyal and new customers. These include start-ups, churches, local authorities and household names such as Sainsbury’s and Mercedes. Most recently HiVis.co.uk has been rolling out thousands of branded masks for brewers that will be handing them out free to customers.

Demand has been so high from across the UK that the company is adding 15% to the workforce including local apprentices.
