Precision Proco has added North London-based WKG Print to its portfolio, in a deal that transfers key assets and eight staff of the £3 million fine art printer to the group formed earlier this year.
Previously known as Witherbys, WKG Print was established in 1740 and has a reputation for fine art printing for London-based clients that include financial businesses, museums, galleries and auction houses. The company will continue to trade under its current name but is expected to benefit from being part of the larger organisation, with access to the latter’s technical resources and market presence.
James Greene, managing director of WKG Print, commented, ‘Our vision has always been to combine experience and tradition with the latest technology to provide our clients with not only the highest quality print, but also to enable them to access new markets and a changing customer base.
‘Precision Proco Group is led by a highly experienced and passionate team of individuals who have brought together award-winning businesses at the forefront of print technology and innovation. I am excited to share all the new possibilities with our clients.’
Jon Bailey, COO of Precision Proco Group, explained that although adding a traditional business might not seem an obvious move for a group that claims to be the first choice for consumer brands, WKG Print is a ‘perfect fit’ for the organisation:
‘Bringing in an established, influential and prestigious company within the high-end print market is exciting. It is very important for iconic brands to understand they do not have to lose their heritage to compete in today’s market.
‘It is possible to look at how they can do things differently, how they can innovate and drive engagement to a changing customer without losing what made them so special in the first place.
‘WKG works with some of the most prestigious and exclusive brands in the UK and we are excited to see how our technology and capabilities can unlock opportunities.’
