Family-owned commercial printing business Micropress has its invested in two MBO CoBo-Stack automated stacking machines via Friedheim International.
The Suffolk-based company, which has worked with finishing specialist Friedheim for more than 12 years, said the twin installation has helped ease pressure on production and improve workflow.
The CoBo-Stacks are operating as part of the wider Micropress production process, which also includes litho and digital printing presses, cutting, folding, stitching and binding kit, along with spot UV and foiling.
‘Like all other print companies, we have been under greater pressure during the last year due to Covid-19,’ said director Paul Coby. ‘We traded throughout the pandemic and were busy again towards the end of the year.
‘As a result, we were looking for greater automation in our print production to help workflow. The CoBo-Stacks were the first pieces of kit we invested in since the first lockdown last year and we had to ensure we got it right.
‘Despite having only been running for a couple of months, we have seen some benefits already, with the CoBo-Stacks freeing up staff to look after other work.’
Mr Coby added that one of the most pleasing aspects of the double purchase was that the two machines have performed exactly as expected, with both of the new CoBo-Stacks running smoothly.
‘December was a very busy month of the year for us and we were really pleased that the CoBo-Stacks were able hit the ground running,’ he finished. ‘They have been running well, we’ve had no major issues and we’ve also got an update booked in to further improve performance.’
