Nottingham-based Sherwood Universal has bought an International Graphics Supplies (IGS) Titanium cutting table to speed the finishing of output from its wide-format printer.
The installation of an Inktec Jetrix flatbed printer led to a significant increase in wide-format sales for the digital and large format print specialist, but also created a production bottleneck with manual cutting operations, some of which had to be outsourced.
David O’Neil, managing director of Sherwood Universal, said, ‘We had looked at a range of cutting machines but, after thorough testing and speaking to existing Titanium users, the Titanium 2516 stood out as robust, adaptable and very competitively priced”.
‘The Jetrix and IGS Titanium 2516 combination has enabled us to offer a varied range of products including short run and prototype packaging, point of sales displays, kiss-cut labels and social distancing products.’
‘Now clients visit our office and we can make one-off packaging designs on the fly during their visits which is a significant benefit to our customers.’
‘The IGS team managed the installation with easy and we were in production within hours of delivery. The training for the new machine, including optimising the router for a wide range of rigid materials and rotary knife for our short run and prototype textiles customers has been excellent.’
As implied by its model number, the Titanium 2516 has an area of 2.5 x 1.6m; the range goes up to 3.5 x 2m but also extends to B3 and B2 sized units for cut-sheet litho and digital print.
