Venn Holdings, the acquisition vehicle created by Anthony Thirlby and Andy Rae, has completed its second acquisition with the purchase of Hampshire-based Culverlands Press, bringing projected group turnover for 2022 to £10 million.

This follows the purchase in March 2021 of John Dollin Printing, now rebranded as JDP and subject to significant investment in workflow and digital printing equipment, notably the installation of an HP Indigo 100K press in April, complementing an existing Indigo 12000.

Venn director Andy Rae commented, ‘This acquisition allows Venn to continue to develop into new market sectors which complements the growth we have experienced at JDP. We believe that with our hybrid production offerings Culverlands fits perfectly and cements our desire to purchase well-run businesses with the opportunity to grow through exceptional customer service and technology.’

Led by managing director Stephen Edwards, Culverlands Press was a £3 million turnover business pre-Covid and has traded its way back to over £2.1 million per annum equivalent since lockdown restrictions lifted. The business has a combination of local, national, and international organisations as customers. The acquisition brings Venn Holdings’ projected turnover for 2022 to £10m.

‘Our commercial print offering has now been enhanced with this addition to the Venn family. Stephen and his team have done a fantastic job in getting the business back onto a strong footing after the pandemic. Our complementary offering from the JDP business will allow a continued development of a hybrid manufacturing platform, combined with technology and our customer-centric belief allowing Venn to align itself to its customers’ future print-related requirements,’ stated Venn’s Anthony Thirlby.

Mr Thirlby noted that Venn continues to evaluate future targets and presently has another two possible deals at the due diligence stage. The Culverlands acquisition was completed on the 3 December 2021.
