Fujifilm has developed the Fujifilm Jet Press Connector app for Enfocus Switch, allowing customers who use the workflow automation software to send print jobs directly to the press.
The app is compatible with all variations of the press, including the Jet Press 750S High Speed model introduced in 2021.
Print companies receiving work from various sources, such as web-to-print portals or via their own MIS, can channel jobs via Switch to the press. The app also allows users to configure many of the Jet Press parameters within the Switch workflow; different sets of parameters can be set depending on the job type.
The app can also set the press parameters by applying scripts within the workflow to translate non-specific job instructions (such as ‘B2 sheets’) into specific parameters to use for each job, increasing productivity and reducing the potential for human error.
The development marks Fujifilm’s recognition that a new press will not automatically require a new workflow. While the company’s XMF Workflow was developed as the primary print production workflow for the press, Fujifilm notes that many printers have developed in-house vendor-neutral systems that manage print production across all their equipment from multiple suppliers, and that Switch is often used in these workflows.
John Davies, product management and support manager for workflow products at Fujifilm, said, ‘Fujifilm first developed a link between Enfocus Switch and its Jet Press many years ago in the form of a configurator and scripts. To make these capabilities easily available to all Jet Press customers, the original functionality, and more, has been developed as the freely available Enfocus Switch App. This provides customers with easy access to further integrate the Jet Press system into their print operations.’
The app is available now as a free download from the Enfocus Appstore.
