The UK print industry reunited for the first time in almost three years to celebrate the sector’s brightest and best at the Rising Star Awards.
The Printing Charity’s annual event took place on 7 July at the House of Lords and was hosted by Guy Black, Lord Black of Brentwood .
The awards, which champion young talent throughout the print, paper, publishing and packaging sectors, are open to anyone between the ages of 18 and 30 working within those industries. Winners can receive funding of up to £1500 to enhance their skills and advance their career. The funding can be used to boost soft and professional skills from presentation, leadership and resilience training to professional accreditation, mentoring or equipment.
This year the awards attracted 114 applications and 52 winners across 40 companies – 40 of them women.
Printing Charity CEO Neil Lovell said, ‘This year we have seen more people going through to interview with a brilliant cross-section of roles and areas of our sector represented. The winners should be rightly proud of their awards, and we hope that they will flourish as they use the awards funding to build on their skills and further their personal development.
‘A massive congratulations to these winners who stood out and impressed with their passion and potential as the future stars of our industry. Thank you to our fabulous supporters and judges – we simply couldn’t do this without you.’
This year’s Rising Star Awards were sponsored by Unite the Union’s Graphical, Paper, Media, and IT Sector. The Publishing Training Centre donated to help produce the winners’ certificates.
